This site has been created to promote collaboration, activities and critical reflections between all members of the Maine educational community of Gorham, SAD #6, Raymond, Westbrook, and Windham Maine.
This site is being powered by Moodle which is course-management software, designed to augment or replace a traditional classroom environment. It offers several distinct advantages over traditional instruction:
- Engaging -- students often enjoy using technology and will spend more time-on-task when working with technology.
- School-To-Career Preparation -- As technology continues to evolve, employers are requiring their employees to be proficient computer users; students with increased abilities will have a distinct advantage over other potential employees. College-bound students may be interested to know that many colleges and universities now offer completely internet-based courses.
- Learning -- Technology use allows for increased interactivity and individualized learning for all students
- Resources -- The internet brings to bear many resources that are not available in books alone. These include study aides, increase student-teacher communication, and the multimedia animations and movies that are not available in a book
- Personal-Productivity -- Technology allows for an increase in the personal productivity of both students and teachers. Users can revise and edit their work with a great deal more ease than on paper alone. Additionally, users are able to keep their original work, and have proof of submission.
